Resume Scoring Sheet

Rate each aspect of your resume using a scale of 1-5; 1 being low and 5 being high.

Basics: the essential parts of a resume 
  • One page in length
  • Functional style that emphasizes skills and relevant experience
  • Uses action words to describe skills and experience
  • Uses amounts-numbers to help describe skills and experience in greater detail
  • Correct spelling and grammar
  • Simple, clear sentence structure
Content: skills, experience and education
  • Text tailored to each position applying for
  • All information present on resume
  • Experiences relate to job in a meaningful way
  • Includes experiences that demonstrate employability skills such as responsibility
  • Includes specific examples of necessary skills
  • Content that relates only to the job, no personal information
Appearance: how a resume looks
  • Looks great, easy to read
  • Even page margins; bullets line up
  • Balanced amounts of text and white space
  • Important information is highlighted (bold, underline, or italics)
  • Standard fonts, size 11 or 12, e.g. ARIAL or TIMES NEW ROMAN
